Environmental Services Is Now a Subsidiary of Versar

Environmental Services, which has been around since 1971, is now a subsidiary of Martin Marietta. It offers consulting services to its parent company, with about half of its $9 million in sales coming from internal business. The rest comes from government contracts and the commercial market. Some of its clients include the Maryland Power Plant Siting Program and the Chesapeake Bay environmental project. The company declined to comment on whether it would continue to provide services to Martin Marietta following its acquisition by Versar.

Versar plans to acquire environmental systems company Martin Marietta, which was founded in 1971 and has provided environmental consulting services to its parent company for nearly four decades. The firm generates about half of its $9 million in sales from internal business, with the rest coming from government contracts. It has worked on a variety of environmental projects, including the Maryland Power Plant Siting Program and the Chesapeake Bay environmental project. The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2021. The company expects the deal to be accretive to earnings per share in the first full year following closing.
